There is definitely one thing that one local art gallery now does from the sidewalks along Peachtree Street. It pops!
Atlanta based street artist and graphic designer Greg Mike and his crew was seen Thursday night painting large walls inside Kai Lin Art gallery with vibrant primary colors. There were several large white blocks situated near the building’s entrance along with a curious pile of metallic paint buckets-one with tongue and teeth-seen from the window. Despite their diligent work, it looked as if Mike and his buddies were having a party rather than putting together his latest exhibition Popstars and Cokeheads.
The art seemed to induce a spontaneous, happy energy much like the works of Keith Haring and David LaChapelle.
Mike’s exhibition, which will not be far from a big party, opens tonight at 7 p.m. at 800 Peachtree Street, NE Suite A, featuring hand painted pieces, sculptures, tee shirts, accessories, prints and collectibles designed and created over the past ten months by Mike.
The centerpiece of the show is an army of 100 hand painted soda cans that have been transformed into the kaleidoscopic “Popstars and Cokeheads” characters. This exhibition will run through March 6.
